Ashbourne Shrovetide photos 2011

As a teenager in Ashbourne, Shrovetide was a brilliant event. A tradition, two days once a year, for fun, freedom to follow the hug, a time to be with your mates, and much much more. Why is it still going after 900 years? Ask the Up’ards and Down’ards who play, follow, watch and make it happen. Returning to my home town for Shrovetide after a long time away, I brought my camera (geek note: Canon C40).  So here are a few of my photos of some Up’ards, Down’ards, stewards, volunteers and a few of the many other people who continue to make it happen… Thanks! 😉

I can tell there were way far more Up’ards than Down’ards.
